Mid-century America routinely introduced us to shiny, colorful devices and electronic gadgets. Year after year, we were invited to imagine an exciting new world where our problems were solved and life was easy.
That optimism seems to have faded in 2025. Those inspired designs have been replaced by the slabs of glass on our walls and in our pockets. Technology feels invasive, frustrating and borderline dystopian.
These paintings aspire to revisit technologies when they were fun, enriched our lives, and inspired us to wonder what’s ahead.
This series is a work-in-progress.
My studio has been taken over by (formerly) feral cats (say hello to Ashtray), so these paintings will be displayed at The Movement Gallery, Tadd’s fitness studio in the iconic Blue House at 1419 Beaumont Street.
