I met a few local DJs who had already started publishing their own underground music magazine, and persuaded them to let me take over the design. They distributed it internationally through record distributors.
As we were on a tight budget, I opted to print black ink only on French Press aged newsprint paper, giving it a vintage feel. The record labels provided us with some imagery; if a page felt too text heavy, I added collages I had made of old magazine ads from the 40s and 50s.
In a short amount of time, the magazine had a very dedicated following.
